Inventory management is more than storing products
Storage describes the physical location of a product; inventory management explains how many units are available, which stock has already been reserved and which movements still need processing. We therefore begin with consistent product master data. SKU, description, size, colour, collection and personalisation details must be unambiguous so an inbound carton or returned garment can be assigned to the correct variant.
Inventory changes through goods receipt, embroidery, printing, assembly, pick and pack, shipping, returns, damage and corrections. We agree when each movement is recorded and who assesses exceptions. This makes it possible to distinguish between physically present, available, reserved, in production, blocked and returned stock. Clear statuses reduce the risk of promising the same garments to more than one order.
Together we determine the information and reporting frequency your team needs. This may range from periodic reports to a data flow through the agreed webshop or ERP workflow. Minimum levels, warning thresholds, fast-moving lines, slow stock and expected peaks can be reviewed. AJDN can flag unusual differences or declining availability, while purchasing and collection planning remain based on your brand’s agreements and sales forecast.
Checks are part of a reliable process. Inbound quantities can be compared with supplied information, while cycle counts or targeted checks help identify differences between physical and recorded stock. When an exception appears, we record the correction and investigate whether it relates to a wrong size, damage, a return, production usage or an unprocessed order. Inventory management then becomes a continuous improvement process instead of a static list.
